Mission:

H.A.L.O. Rescue is a NO KILL, NON PROFIT animal shelter and adoption facility with a mission to make Indian River county a safe place for our animals. Once a pet enters our shelter they are guaranteed care and medical attention until their forever home is found. We are soley supported by private contributions and through our services.

We have volunteer and foster programs. We are always in need of animal lovers to open up their hearts, homes, and their time to help us care for the animals while waiting for their forever homes. Some of our pets come in sick and in need of extra attention and medical care. Without fosters we would not be able to help as many as we do. We also need help with raising litters of puppies and kittens as they need round the clock care!

We have grown a lot in the past 3 years! We have saved over 3000 lives now and continue to grow, update, and expand the shelter.

We have rennovated at least 1/2 of the building, have a 1.5 acre fenced in dog park where the dogs can run and play, have a back up generator in the event of power loss, and now have 2 new air conditioning units so we will not be without air or heat this year!

We have started a low cost voucher program to help people spay/neuter their pets. Without spaying and neutering our rescue work would be for not.

Also we have a food bank for people to pick up dog or cat food when they cannot afford it.

Fix up and expand our quarantine facility.

Expand our adoption center by enlarging the front building to accomidate more cats, create an exercise cat room for our FIV positive cats and kittens to live a happy and comfortable life if not adopted, create a nursery for abandoned litters of puppies and kittens, and create adoption rooms for people to visit with the animals.

To create a NO KILL shelter for all of Indian River County and make our community safe with enough space and funding to take in and care for the abandoned and abused animals. To have an on site veterinarian and create a shelter where the animals can be safely cared for while waiting for their forever homes.

We began this rescue as a family dream of giving back to those that give so much to us. With a lot of love, sweat, and tears we are expanding.

We offer boarding, grooming, and have a boutique all to raise money for the shelter. By continued support with your pets needs, not only are you leaving your pet in excellent care, but you are saving the lives of others!

Our family consists of owners Maria Hart and her daughter Jacque Petrone, and staff Denys Ballina (groomer), Rachel Gahring, Marshall Kolmel, Sean Phillips, Christine Sanders, and Nancy Robinson.
